Step off the platform and you're five minutes from a pint. Turn right at the top of Station Road East and the High Street opens up in front of you, with The Crown's black-and-white timbers on the left just past the shops. Handy too for the return leg - last orders followed by a direct train home to London Bridge or Victoria.
The Crown began as a Tudor hall house in the 1500s and has welcomed locals and travellers on Old Oxted’s High Street for over 300 years. Today it’s an independent free house, owner-run by Alan Percival for over thirty years. Two characteristic bars with open fires, exposed beams and Victorian panelling, local cask ales from Surrey and Kent breweries, home-cooked food and a family beer garden with adventure playground and North Downs views.

The Crown is a family pub rather than a formal restaurant, which is rather the point. There is a huge beer garden with a free adventure playground, high chairs inside, a £6.95 children's menu and a children's roast at £9.50 on Sundays. No admission charge for the playground.

Walk-ins are always welcome, and there is no need to book for a drink or for the garden. Sunday lunch and Friday and Saturday evenings do get busy, so a table is worth booking online or on 01883 717853.

The pub and kitchen open at 12 noon Wednesday to Sunday, and food is served from opening. We are closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday until 11pm, Friday and Saturday until 11:45pm, Sunday until 8pm.
